Holden: 16 Months

This face, accompanied by a grunt, is what 16 months is all about. When he wants something, he wanted it 5 minutes ago. When he's annoyed, he's really annoyed. This face.... it happens a lot. 

But really, Holden is the sweetest thing with the sweetest personality. He's so chill. But then he can just flip a switch and within seconds he's grunting and squealing till I can figure out what he needs. At least it's entertaining. 

He's pretty verbal and says lots of words that are pretty intelligible. His fav things to say are: let's go, thank you, airplane, ewwwww {for anything that he thinks is gross}, all done, popcorn, pumpkin, no, hi, panting for a dog, meowing for a cat, and growling for every other animal. He signs milk consistently and sometimes eat and help. My favorite thing he does is say ewwww and wave his hand in front of his nose every time he poops. Maybe he'll be easier to potty train?? {fingers crossed}. He loves his brother, loves to be apart of everything, loves to snack, hates to eat meals, hates his ears cleaned, loves the hose, loves books, is a big climber, hates being dirty, loves balloons, loves to dance, and still has some separation issues. Love you Holdie. 

The Side Part

We've been trying really hard to get to church on time and let me tell you, it's near impossible. Well, I know it's possible because it seems like everyone else is on time but us... but that's not the point. A few Sundays ago I rushed Weston out the door while Cameron finished getting Holden ready. We had a few minutes to kill so I took a few pics of Weston with his new side part. I thought he looked really sweet. He sat on the steps and watched his friends ride their bikes. Broke my heart and made me so proud of him all in the same moment. Love you Weston. 

Summer's Over, Technically

It's a bit bittersweet when summer is over. Although it still feels like summer here so I don't know why I'm saying it's over. We're still night swimming and sweating all day long. I've loved this summer. As much as I love teeny babies, I've really liked my boys getting older. It's so fun to do activities with them and they just love to be out and about. 

This was probably our last beach trip of the summer. Some of my best beach memories: 

-Safeway sandwiches

-peanut butter M&M's ALWAYS for the car ride down, which begins around 9:30. 

-Weston STILL loves to be buried. He giggles and laughs the entire time... especially when Cameron does a "foot check."

-the boys still don't like the water. They will tolerate it for about 5 seconds if we are holding them in the water and then they both start to freak out. 

-Weston loves to play "the waves are getting you game"

-Holden gets what to do now at the beach. When we were in Hawaii about 4 months ago he kind of just held a shovel and grunted. Now he does his thing and he loves to dig in the sand. 

-being stuck in traffic one beach day, going home, cause their was an accident in the Santa Cruz mountains. Ugg. 

-the boys find and pet every dog on the beach

-Holden learned how to put on his own crocs

-the boys love to eat snacks the entire time at the beach. For sure Holden is scrounging around in the bag for a snack at any given second. Which then means everything in every bag is covered in sand, including all the snacks. At least he's consistent. 

Can't wait till next summer! 

Weston's First Day Of Preschool {3's}

Choosing a preschool is proving to fall into the "one of life's most stressful moments" category.  And it's just preschool, I know. Weston switched schools this year to Holy Cross Lutheran School. We love that he'll learn about the bible stories and we're excited about the switch. He's also in the same class as his bestie Brayden so that's also super fun for him. 

Weston requested his favorite cereal for breakfast- it's some type of peanut butter cereal but he calls it is "favorite oatmeal." Weston has the kindest heart and I'm so excited for him to keep learning and growing. Here's to a great new school year!

Chrissy Field

I'm FINALLY getting some energy back so I'm playing catch up. When Andrea was in town we spent the day at Chrissy Field. We've gone there a ton and this was our first foggy and super windy day... I guess it was bound to happen sometime. But... it was perfect for flying kites. And the highlight of the day was for sure when Weston's EMPTY bag of Pirates Booty flew down the beach. Weston was apparently attached to this bag and had the mother of all tantrums {the awkwardly embarrassing kind}. After he recovered Cameron told him they would walk down the beach to look for it. And what do you know... they found the bag and daddy was the hero. Weston didn't let go of the bag the entire ride home. Strange little three year olds.

 

Andrea

One of my Utah besties, Andrea, came for a visit last week. It was soooo fun. My only complaint is that  her visit wasn't longer and I didn't get pics of some of our more classic moments like: shopping at Target, sock buns, sourdough bread, Weston only calling Andrea "the babysitter," diet coke runs, me falling on Bart, and having a grandma trip over Weston and then land on him at the restaurant. Perfect memories. Come back soon Andrea!!!

Our attempt at some group shots turned out oh. so. bad. It didn't help we'd been at the beach all day, with no naps, and 5 minutes to get ready. Let's just say my camera was full of outtakes. Thanks mom and dad for such a fun vacation!! We had a blast and the memories will last a life time!

My dad's brother lives in So. Cal so they came to visit one night. It was so fun to see them and to catch up.

Neidig Family Reunion {2012} Sea World

Sea World was so fun... the cuzzies had so much fun running around together and seeing all the fun shows and animals. The Elmo land was a pretty big hit too.... which was basically a giant park with rides. So typical. 

Weston's in this fun stage where he tries to control every move Holden makes. We've talked a lot about trying not to be bossy but he always says, "But why, I like to be bossy." Hmmmmm. I love this picture cause it perfectly demonstrates what Weston is all about right now.... forcing Holden to do something and Holden trying to escape. Holden's starting to fight back and will hit Weston. This infuriates Weston and he screams like he just got his arm chopped off and then he smacks Holden back. Awwww, I'm so excited we're entering this lovely stage.

Weston's really into tickling right now and Holden dies over this. 

We went to the dolphin show and all Weston could talk about was the churro man he saw walking around. He never walked by us and Weston was so bummed.... so we promised we'd fine the churro man after. Apparently my boys really like their fried bread and sugar.

Neidig Family Reunion {2012} Mission Beach Boardwalk

My mom was sweet enough to celebrate my birthday a month early. I really think it's been 8 years since I've celebrated with my family so it was really fun. We all went to lunch and then hung out at the boardwalk. I probably could of stayed there all day... 

The kiddies loved the carousal, of course. Well, except Leah. Riding the bunny wasn't in her top 5 activities that day. 

Shoving the fam in the photo booth was one of my funnier boardwalk moments. Seriously, the boys loved it. 

Weston was REALLY into waving on one of his carousal rides. We just kept waving, and waving, and waving. 

These two babes went solo on the boat ride. We thought they may try and jump overboard but they stayed put and were all smiles. They had about a hundred people waving and smiling at them so that probably helped the situation.

This is my most favorite ride. Ever. Apparently everyone gets sick on rides?? so Brent I were the only ones jumping at the chance to go. Totally made my day. 

And then there was the Boston Creme cake back my mom made.. totally delish. Thirty three. Gah! I'm not really sure how this happened. So fun to celebrate with my family! 

 

Neidig Family Reunion {2012} The Beach

We went to La Jolla Shores one day for a little beach fun. Beach, water, a lawn chair, taco runs, diet coke, kids entertaining themselves.. what's not to love?
