My Little Crawler

I snapped this on my phone the other day as Weston insisted on crawling across the road (don't worry, it's a private dead end lane). Every time I stopped him he crawled right back over my legs to get to the road. Not quite sure what was so exciting on the other side but it was pretty cute watching him get there.

Lamp: Before And After

I had my heart set on this lamp from Z Gallerie but I couldn't bring myself to fork out the cash for a lamp... a lamp that will probably get pulled off the table 100 times by a baby.

I typically don't have old stuff lying around the house {because I'm so the opposite of a pack rat}. For some reason I had held onto this lamp base and was using it my very sad and barren guest room. The old lamp shade had already been donated to good will. I searched high and low for a white lamp shade and my last option was Lamps Plus. Apparently I should have shopped there first because I scored a $12 clearance shade that was perfect. {And don't judge my horribly taken photos in the dark.}

Spray paint is officially my new best friend. And have you tried Fabri-Tac? That glue is amazing... the ribbon attached in seconds flat and it looked so smooth and good.

Park Playdate

We went to the park this week with Weston's little buddy Evan. Weston just stares at Evan and wants to be him because he can walk. Soon enough....

But we stuck with the swing while Evan ran around and Weston was all smiles. He LOVES the swing and is starting to smile when I let him go down the slide.

And then we took a break... or maybe the mommies needed to? Anything is absolutely fascinating to Weston right now. All you have to do is show him something and make a cool face. He lights up, grabs it, and will play with it forever.

He also will grab anything out of anyones hand. It's actually quite hilarious... no fear in such a small little thing. Here he is going after Evan's freeze dried mango.

And then resorting to the sweatshirt grab... it helps every time.

Da-Da

The first words have been said... and it definitely wasn't ma-ma.

He's been babbling da-da for a long time now but today Cameron walked into the room and Weston, clear as day, says "Da-da." Then Cameron picks him up and says, "Say da-da." Weston say's "Da-da." And then just to rub it in, it happened 4 more times.

Yeah for Weston! Yeah for da-da! Sad, for me...

Windows: Before and After

It was bittersweet when they started to build the house next to us a few weeks ago. Sweet because we love new neighbors and bitter because now we live in a cave. If I get any sort of natural light in my day I'm sure its because it is somehow reflecting off the giant two story roof next to use. Anyhow... this is not the point.

The roman shades had to come down. Not only because I hate them and I'm changing my colors; but they also block too much light. I also needed to find a cheap window treatment because that was one place I definitely didn't want to spend a lot of money. The pelmet box was a cheap and easy solution and I like how it turned out.

He Thinks He's 12

I walked away for a few seconds the other day. I came back and Weston thought he had turned 12 or something. His favorite activity is to tip everything over and then try to climb on top.

Still a little unsuccessful at the "getting on top" part.

I didn't take the greatest before picture of the end table I bought on Craigslist. It's a cute little thing with great lines.

Lots of lessons have been learned while spray painting. After about 20 cans of spray paint {seems like a hundred} I will say I'm getting better.

Cam's 29th

birthday was so fun. Friday night we got our first babysitter. We are definitely doing that more often... it was so fun to get out of the house. We went to Haps and then ditched the gourmet desserts for Coldstone. Loved it. No wonder people always tell you to keep dating once you have kids!

Saturday we took headed out early to go into the city. We made stops in Berkeley and Emeryville to hit up some of our favorite stores... and then ended up at Taylor's at the ferry building for lunch. The scene there is so fun and the weather was GORGEOUS!

Barstools: Before And After

After 2 years in our house we've finally decided to decorate and pull everything together. Nap times consist of me inhaling fumes in my garage.

Pretty sure I HATE spray painting. And considering that "good" spray painting is an art... things are looking a little scary around here. Anyhow, this new past time of mine has consisted of lots of trips to Lowe's, puncturing my ottoman twice with screws, overdraft spray paint on the drive way (and I'm sure all my neighbor's driveways), spray paint in my eye, and most recently, an injury.

Good times are being had.

We can check the barstools off the list. Pretty sure we pulled staples out of the seats tonight for about 3 hours while we caught up on our DVR.

He Moves!

Weston is so happy with himself. I'm trying to be happy for him too, but I'm too busy baby proofing and covering all my electrical outlets. How does he already know about those?

Rosenhan Family Photos {2010}

We went to Arizona in January to visit Cameron's family. Many of us live out of state so it was seriously a miracle we were all in the same place at the same time. We for sure had to document it.... here's the Rosenhan family photos.

Grandpa's Hat

Weston and I just got back from Utah. My sister was there for the weekend too and we had such a fun time. My dad sent me this picture of Weston wearing his hat... he loved pulling it off of Grandpa's head... over, and over, and over again.

And for the record... Weston's favorite new thing is to scream at the top of his lungs unless you are holding his hands and letting him walk around the house. My back is not happy and neither is my head... it has a headache from all of this screaming. Please say this is just a phase.

equal the messiest food ever. Which is why I'm sure Weston LOVES them. He's so grown up... I can't stand it.

Buh-Bye Matt and April

Our good friends, Matt and April, are moving to Utah. She's having her babe in less than a month and then they are heading out. So sad for all of us. We wanted to get everyone together before they left so we hosted a very chill good-bye party {more like a gathering} this past weekend.

We played a little game to see how well we know {or don't know} Matt and April. You had to know them REALLY well to know some of these answers...

I made these delicious little chocolate cakes. This recipe must be tried. But here's a tip... the small ones {in a mini muffin tin} came out a bit dry.

But the big ones were moist and delicious and fit perfectly in these darling favor boxes {to be given to the ladies I visit teach}. Oh yeah, skip the hershey kiss in the middle of the cake... its more trouble then it's worth.

make for lots of tears, especially at night. Teething is oh so sad.

It's about time!! It's seriously our favorite ever!!

The Beginnings of Besties

Natalie was one of my first friends after I moved to California 8 years ago. My list of memories go on and on with her but my favorite took place in our singles ward. We were both a little weary of our new ward... seeing that everyone was about 20 years older than us. Very scary. We both knew absolutely no one {except each other} so we headed to an activity. And here's what we did: relay races. But this was just not any relay race... it involved chewing 5 saltines in your mouth, running down the lawn, blowing up a balloon with the saltines still in your mouth, and then sitting on the balloon and popping it. It was a level of humiliation you'll never understand until you try and pop a balloon with saltines and saliva dripping down your face.

Luckily we've moved onto better things {thank goodness}... our boys! Weston and Lucas are already besties and I'm so excited. {To Jake and Karen: beg your moms to move back here}.

And the most exciting toy of the play date: the mascara tube.
