Holden: 2 Weeks

No offense to my first born... but Holden is such an easier baby. Holden probably knows what is best for him as far as survival goes. I think Weston's figured out that the baby is not here on vacation and that he is staying. He'll say, "Where baby?" or say "Bottle" when he starts to cry... but that about wraps it up. I'll take it.... it's progress!! Holden was screaming on the floor the other day as I was packing up the car. I had to laugh as I watched Weston walk over to him and stare him down out of annoyance. Now if only he knew what his tantrums sounded like...

Mini Carts

Trader Joes now has mini shopping carts. In theory this sounds really cute.... but with Weston it just equals more craziness at the grocery store. He already carries the basket all around the store and loads it up with whatever he can reach {which seems to be EVERYTHING that is glass}. Now we've added the cart to the mix. Grocery shopping is pretty comical because somehow I, of course, end up pushing the big cart, the mini cart, and the basket... all while chasing Weston down as he picks up 2 egg cartons and yells, "Ohhhhhh EGGS!!!" Did I mention the newborn?? Thank you Trader Joes.

Holden's First Bath

I think Holden was having in-utero flashbacks during his first bath because he loved it!

Mother's Day 2011

I think the best part of me is the part that is a mom. I love it and I love my boys. I love that on Mother's Day I get to remember how much I love my boys and how I love being their mom {and let's not forget the gifts!} I also loved that my mom was with me on this Mother's Day... I don't think that's happened in at least 10 years.

I kept Holden home from church on Mother's Day and I was a bit sad I had to miss out on church. Weston came running in the door though from church saying, "Mommy, mommy," holding the cutest little flower pot and this little card with his picture. Not sure if I was extra hormonal or extra touched but I was bawling like a baby. I love that Weston is the age where he gets to make little things at church and he loves to bring them home. So cute.

Weston is not a fan of sitting still or having his pictures taken these days. I was begging him for a picture with the flower he gave me but he was not having it... till I pulled out the m&m's. No, I'm not above some friendly bribing. He may be eating in every picture but at least he is sitting!!

Furrowed Brow

I have passed the furrowed brow on to my offspring. I only choose my best traits to pass on.... my children are so lucky.

Headed Home

The nurses thought I had lost my mind when I asked to go home 2 days early. All I could think was, "No, I'm losing my mind getting my vitals every 4 hours and answering what level my pain is." After getting the green light from my doctor and pediatrician we packed up and headed home. We attempted to get a picture of our new "happy" family of four and let's just say that didn't work out so well. We ended up with 3 happy people and one very mad person. I'm just glad Weston eventually ended up somewhere in the picture. It's the little things these days....

It's true... he's coming home with us!!!!

Chillin' At The Hospital

Holden weighed only 1 ounce more than Weston (phew) but was 1.25" shorter than Weston. Seriously... there was no way possible he was only 20". I had him remeasured later and he was 21"... just for the record.

My mom brought Weston by every day to visit. I missed him so much so I loved to see him. He would always come running in the door and say "mommy, daddy, baby!" Then he would get right to work pushing every button on the bed, calling the nurses, using the phone, playing with the shower stool, adjusting the bed, etc. etc.

When all other forms of entertainment fail... bust out Angry Birds. Cameron became seriously obsessed in the hospital. What is it with that game?

Brothers

The brothers meet....

I'm glad I got these few pics of "brotherly love" because it has now disappeared and has been replaced with something not so brotherly and not so loving. We're giving it some time....

Holden's Birth Day

One c-section = more c-sections = leisurely pictures outside the hospital before you give birth {in clothes that don't really fit anymore}.

I thought the first c-section was way better than the second because I had no clue what was going on the first time around. This time I had major deja vu because I prepped in the same room, delivered in the same OR, recovered in the same room, had some of the same nurses, etc. The smells, feelings, cold room, the spinal, etc. etc. were all the same so it was kind of a weird experience.
But in the end I think I enjoyed the experience a whole lot more because I kind of knew what to expect. I loved seeing Holden for the first time and couldn't wait to hold him.

Cameron giving Holden his first pep talk.

Weston's a little unsure about the whole baby thing. He'll say baby and look at him and occasionally kiss him but that's about it. Holding him is definitely out of the question.

Holding a newborn makes you want to have a about a hundred babies... seriously, could anything be any better?
My mom flew into town and has been a major help shuttling Weston all around and keeping him entertained. Welcome to the world Holden!

Introducing...

Holden Gray Rosenhan
8 pounds 12 ounces
21 inches
May 2, 2011
12:50 pm

We're so happy he's here... Holden is the sweetest, calmest, sleepiest, chillest baby ever. We love him! Naming your baby boy may be one of the most complex tasks around. After some intense negotiations we decided on Holden's name right before we left the hospital. His middle name, Gray, comes from my great grandma. She is a woman who I miss and love so much. She touched my life and I hope Holden knows what an honor it is to be named after her.
