Love Maui

I'm finally getting around to posting about Maui... this was a trip with Cameron's company and we had such a great time. It was way fun getting to know the other administrators. Cameron works with such fun people. Here are the highlights: 

How cute are their airport bathroom signs? Maybe California should have hippies on their bathroom signs? You may be wondering why I had time to take pictures of bathroom sings... well, because lucky for me my bag didn't come through in Maui. Our driver told us to just keep waiting because it might be on the next flight. Two hours and two flights later my bag appeared... thank goodness. 

We stayed in the beautiful Grand Wailea in Maui. It has the most AMAZING spa!

and laid out during a rainstorm the first day.

Who's to say you can't catch a few rays under an umbrella, towel, and rain cloud?

Heres the annoying bee that stung me... bee stings seriously hurt.

We had lots of game playing and team bonding... I'm coaching my windup frog across the pool. I lost. 

Here's our team... the Gladiators. We thought we chose a winning team name but turns out we lost every game except for water balloon dodgeball. My arm was definitely sore after that game. 

And don't forget the grape throwing contest... Cameron amazingly caught 2 and I got pegged in the lip. Go figure. 
And we can't forget ping pong... we definitely brought our A game to Maui (thanks to all our Friday night practices at Club Sport).

And of course photo shoots at all moments... Cameron loves this part of vacation!! 

Celebrate

It's house buying time... the Halls, Hendersons, and us are all new homeowners. We decided to celebrate last week at Outback before we become too house poor!

After we went to the mall and Brooke decided to open her big mouth to the straight iron guy in the middle of the mall. Next thing you know he is putting curls in my hair and trying to get me to buy a straightener. It was such a great deal... "I give you red straightener for 175.oo, best I can do for you. Give you red for same price as black." Um.... no thanks, that is not a deal. Thanks Brooke!

Top 5

Top 5 reasons for leaving the apartment: 

5. No more climbing 3 flights of stairs to get to my front door- although I think my glutes have  benefitted from the daily hike 

4. Heat rises... just another great benefit of leaving on the 3rd floor. So when it is 60 degrees outside, its 70 degrees inside. Seventy degrees outside, 8o degrees inside.... you get the point. Summer is a great time to be on the 3rd floor (good luck Morleys :)) 

3. No more smelling smoke from our awesome chain smoking neighbors below. 

2. No more smelling curry from our awesome curry cooking neighbors below (and I really do love curry, just not smelling it 24-7). 

Drum Roll... 

1. No more smelling the combination of curry and smoke in the same breath from our neighbors below. I have deemed that a VERY toxic smell.

So... because I don't have enough going on I thought I would get a third job. You are looking at the new employee of 

I will admit it was a bit scary to interview and fill out a job application... I haven't done that in forever!! I had to answer all these questions about my strengths and weaknesses and why they should hire me. Um... for the discount?? It will definitely come in handy as we try and furnish our new house.... 

We are moving this week and we are super excited!! We paid extra for the trash cans :)

Cameron Graduates

I'm a bit late posting this... but I'm documenting our life. Cameron was part of this years Leadership Pleasanton class. It helps "develop community leaders" which I'm sure it does, but I think he loved it because once a month he got to tour Pleasanton, skip work, schmooze with a bunch of people, and eat good food. Anyhow- there was a graduation party at this fancy house where he got a plaque and a medal. This little party was a bit stressful for me because I had to talk to all these big wig Pleasanton people and I was not having a lot in common with them (except my husband). Good times.

Cans

I'm thinking can projects are pretty cute these days... for Mother's Day a few of us girls got together to make a can of memories for our mom. We decorated the outside with scrapbook paper and then Nicole had this awesome tag cutter and we filled our cans with tags. On each tag we wrote a memory of our mom... thinking about all those memories made me miss my mom!! 

I really like the idea of putting flowers in cans... what a cute gift!! (thanks Catherine) 

And then Brooke posted about some other fun can projects awhile back and I thought this lantern idea was cute. I'm going to make some of these in red, white, and blue and decorate for the 4th.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show... I can't wait for May 22nd!! 

My Greatest Accomplishment

I BEAT HIM!! I finally did it, I beat Cameron in one game of ping pong. 
We have been having some weekend dates at Club Sport lately... it doesn't get more exciting then playing ping pong and working out on a Friday night. That being said... I have become very competitive in our ping pong games because he beats me so bad EVERY game. And after he wins there is this annoying gloating session where he reminds me how good he is at ping pong. So on Friday night I beat Cameron... in only one game... but I'll take it. Cameron claims he was taking it easy on me. You know what I have to say about that... yeah right.  

Crabs

There is just something about looking at a bunch crab legs that just seems so unappetizing. Not to mention watching them boil in a pot... such a weird delicacy. 

But thanks to our friends Carolyn and Andy... Cameron and I tried crab legs last Sunday at dinner. They even came prepared with a backup for me if I didn't like it... how nice are they!! But much to everyones surprise... I found them to be quite good. Please look who is wearing the oven mitts to crack open their legs.

Picture Blocks

So here's a follow up to the wooden blocks... add a picture. Brooke's sister made these (what a shocker... she's creative too). 

I think she uses these as a decoration... but I think it would be super cute to mod podge pics of your baby on them and let them stack away. 

Baby Wooden Blocks

I just love these blocks... I'm thinking this little project is in my near future (craft night girls.. what do you think?) I love the idea of making a customized vintage block set.

Just Another Weekend

We were a bit on the dull side this weekend... Friday night our YM/YW from our ward had their roadshow. Brooke and I did the girls makeup and Cameron hauled around props. I must say... the YM and YW did a great job. 

Saturday I realized how bad I am at serving in tennis. By the end of the lesson my instructor had me basically just serving the ball over the net with a high volley. Can you even learn a new sport at age 28? Oh the frustration... 

Uh, Oh.... 3-0

It's true... Jason is 30!! Brooke planned a surprise party for him at the A's game.  We had a super great time and Jason was surprised to see us all show up. Good job Brooke! Despite the A's losing (I think that is what happened... I didn't watch any of the game), and freezing our butts off... it was a way fun night!!

Of course Brooke would have handouts for every inning... so cute! We learned all about the year Jason was born, his favorite things, his least favorite things, and his most embarrassing photos (which happened to be my favorite handout). 
And of course there were gift bags with baseball game treats. 

And the best part- she hired us a private band. Just kidding, because I would have killed Brooke if she hired them. You know those people that feel its necessary to bring their own instruments like whistles and drums to the game? And then they feel it necessary to toot their whistle and bang their drums the entire game? Um, that was them. So ANNOYING!! The best part was listening to the chants that they created and then watching them try to get the whole crowd involved. Go A's!! 

Cheap Date

I'm finally getting around to posting these pics from last weekend... we pride ourselves in having such a fun night for so cheap! 

First up, dinner at In-N-Out and a free hair cut for Brooke.  

Next up, the driving range. The girls mainly held the clubs for the picture... and then spent most of our time talking about shopping and other girl stuff.

And the night wasn't over, we finished the night with some serious rocking out. Who knew we all had such hidden talent? What's really funny about Rock Band is that you really get into it... facial expressions and all. Ty watch out, I have some great back mail photos. 

Fortune Cookies Really Do Speak The Truth

I think this is hilarious... Cameron's friend Travis got this fortune in 2006, saved it, and wrote the date on the back. 

And the fortune came true... we were married April 7, 2007. Weird!!! Note to self: do not disregard fortune cookie fortunes.  

Magnetic Flowers

I just love these magnetic flowers... when I decide to use (and buy) a tablecloth... I'm definitely making some of these! 

Jimmy Eat World

I don't know how big of a fan I am of Jimmy Eat World... but Cameron is. Tuesday we went to their concert with the Halls, minus Jason. He had to entertain work clients last minute... we missed you. Anyhow... we had a good time.

The best part for Brooke was discovering Paramore, the opening band. 

The best part for Cameron was of course Jimmy Eat World. 

And the best part for me was seeing 95% of the concert goers wearing skinny pants, hoodies, black eye makeup, and flats. We totally dressed wrong. 

Ruth's Chris

Cute Cameron suprised me with dinner reservations at Ruth's Chris for our anniversary. We had our wedding dinner there last year and were too busy socializing to enjoy the amazing filets... so Cameron thought it would be fun to go back, only not in La Jolla. Dinner was awesome and it brought back so many good memories! Now that I'm going on year two, I have made a year two marriage resolution. Cameron is absolutely obsessed with chocolate chip cookies. Frankly, I don't see the point of plain chocolate chip cookies when you can have so many other great kinds of cookies. So for one year I have made countless low-fat chocolate chip cookies and they are never that great... big surprise. So my resolution was to find and make a great chocolate chip recipe- full fat, full calorie, and really good. Lucky me, I found a yummy recipe through blog stalking and there was good news and bad news about this recipe. Good news: Cameron thought they were great and the best I've ever made Bad news: they come in second place to some lady that made him cookies on his mission. At least I'm in second place. 

Conference And Waffles

Brooke sent me this photo with her iphone. Um, I REALLY want one of those!! We were privileged enough to be apart of "conference and waffles" at her moms house on Sunday. Having no family around means we just get to join other families... I love it (but miss ours too!!) Brooke requested pink waffles...I don't know if you can tell from the pic? I have never had pink waffles before but I'm now determined they just taste better because they are pink. Everything is better pink. 

1st Anniversary

Happy 1st Anniversary to us! What a great year its been and here's to many more to come!
