Peeps

I almost forgot how much I love peeps.
I reminded myself by eating an entire package today.

{It is scary to google image "peeps." What are people thinking?}

Wii Fit

Saturday we went with Zalewski's to dinner and then ended back at their house for a little chatting and hanging out. I don't know how this happened but we got introduced to the Wii Fit. I opted out of getting weighed... no need to make that public knowledge 7 months pregnant.

The Wii Fit brought out my competitive side apparently. My first Wii Fit age was 45 and I was not happy about that. Round 2 of my testing I scored {drumroll} a 29... spot on. Phew.

While I skied, headbutted soccer balls {and shoes}, and hula hooped, Cameron digested two tums on the couch.

After a little convincing Cameron pried himself off the couch... only to be disappointed by a Wii Fit age of 65. How is that possible? Anyhow, a victory in round 2... scoring a 33.

I must say that Wii Fit is pretty fun. Carolyn kickboxed and did aerobics and it seriously looked fun. I'm tempted....

The Tortoise And The Hare

Pre-pregnancy I used to work out a lot, as in almost every day.

During pregnancy I like to pretend I work out every day.

So as part of my new goals I'm now walking every day. I feel so lame walking at such a leisurely pace. I really feel lame that I'm actually getting a total workout and need to catch my breath every so often. But I'm over it.

Last night Cameron and I took a new route and came across the speed radars. Cameron said, "I'll take a picture of your speed... start walking."

So I did. I even picked up the pace, used my speed walking arms, and booked it across the radar. No speed appeared.

Thinking it was a fluke I did it again, and again, and again. Same result, no speed.

It must be broken. So I told Cameron to try.

He scored a

The speed radar is not broken.

Turning Over A New Leaf

Since no pictures will be posted until I stop looking like Rihanna, I've resorted to posting about some of my goals. I'm turning over a new leaf... I'm starting to bake and sew.

I'm ok at cooking... but when it comes to baking... it's a big fat NOT OK. Somehow I always think I can substitute when you just really shouldn't substitute and things just never turn out right. So here's where the new leaf comes in... cinnamon rolls are being baked this Sunday while we are home for General Conference {love this Sunday}. Don't call me, I will be too busy stressing out.

Now for the sewing. I think it is an unwritten rule somewhere that new babies should have homemade quilts and blankets. My mom has got me covered on the blankets and I'm taking on the quilt. Let's keep in mind I haven't sewed in about 12 years (except for my guitar onesie I just made) so there have been numerous steps to take:

1. Recruit Emily for my private lessons... I bet she is hating that she agreed to this {Remember I'm bringing you homemade oreos in return. I haven't forgotten.}
2. Buy fabric {Elaine's Quilt Block in Utah is the bomb}
3. Buy everything to cut and measure the fabric {this is not cheap}
4. Buy a sewing machine

I've done steps 1-3 and now I just have to get the machine. Turns out I could have bought 100 blankets for the cost of this one homemade one. But let's be honest, homemade is not cheap and not easy {at least for me}. My rule of thumb in the past has been, "If you can make it, you can buy it." I always went for the "buy it" and now I'm not sure what has happened?

Wish me luck.

I'll Admit It, I'm Not Good At This

pregnancy thing. First it was morning sickness, (which is fine... morning sickness comes with the territory). Then came placenta previa. Next was the scary cyst followed by surgery.

I thought I was in the clear...

Then last month Cam and I went to the temple with some friends. Of course that means you have to stop by Fenton's and chow down on ice cream and carmel sauce. Driving home I felt a bit queazy... a bit like morning sickness. No, it couldn't be?? But I made it home in time to barely make it to the toilet. It was not pretty. So did the ice cream just not agree with me, was I sick? Not quite sure?

The next morning I wake up with red dots all around my eyes. Pretty much I looked like Zorro, but with a red mask. It was seriously pretty awesome {and pretty embarassing}. I went to work and all the girls decided that I have the "mask of pregnancy" which is fairly common in pregnancy. Now that is great... I have always wanted to look like Zorro. Now I get to for 4 more months.

Well, I lucked out. The red mask faded. At this point I had no idea what it was. But the sweet red mask was getting replaced by a few extra pounds and bloating. Even better.

Now we get to last night. It was about 11 pm and we were just finishing Grey's. And let's be honest, how good is Grey's these days? I'm loving it. And all the sudden I get the feeling... I'm hot, I'm flushed, headache, and things just aren't feeling right. I run to the sink... and you know the rest.

I look in the mirror after "the episode" and Zorro has returned... along with 2 broken blood vessels in my eye. Yes, it's true. I have been throwing up so hard that I'm breaking blood vessels in my eye and apparently around my eyes.

Ah the joys, the morning sickness is sticking with me.

I look really hot right now. In fact, words just don't even describe it. Three months left and The Boy will emerge. I will be so happy about that on so many levels.

The Completed Master Bedroom

It's about dang time I completed one room in this house... well, minus a chair for the corner and a few knick knacks for the dressers... but our master bedroom is done!

I changed my mind on the headboard about 100 times but I love the one we finally decided on.

I attempted to be an artist and painted the painting on the wall.

I'm not sure if you can handle how difficult it was. Let me tell you my secrets:
1. Buy canvas (love the penny sale at Aaron Brothers) and paints
2. Slab on plaster (total time = 5 minutes)
3. Slab on paints (total time = 5 minutes)

I know it's not worth thousands of dollars but it was easy breezy.

Now onto The Boy's room....

Una Fiesta

I threw Cam a little fiesta for his 28th. We had so much fun celebrating fiesta style... ole!!

A few shots of the food.

Notice the sweet nacho cheese machine...circa 2003. Here is Jason getting a nice little dollop of cheesy goodness.

Whitney and Spencer arrive... Mexican style.

Cam breaks out the guitar and played us all a tune as the guests arrived. I fanned the sweat from his brow.

Shannon and Carson

Frieda even dropped by for a bit

Whitney and Spencer

Lisa and Michelle (both hubbiless)

Brooke and Jason

April and Matt

The girls!

The boys!

And then we broke out the pinata... who doesn't love a pinata?? The birthday boy gave it a good left armed whack with no luck.

Spencer thought with all his sporting background he could knock it down... but no.

Brooke was the official spinner who dizzied everyone up.

And yes, April whacked that baby open.

Adults rushing for treats... what a sight.

A few causalities were had.

Happy 28th Cameron!! Hope all your wishes come true!

Celebrating 28 Years

The anticipation of what was inside

Clothes and some much needed golf lessons (he said it, not me)

And my personal fav... the guitar onesie. It was my first baby craft ever and my first sewing craft in about 12 years. I'm pretty sure the last time I sewed was at Snow College in home ec. Basically I took my projects home to my mom, she sewed them up, and she earned my A. So our baby boy is ready to rock out.

And a little candle action at Zephyr

Happy Birthday

to the person I love the most.

Not so much when he makes this face... but you get my point. May your 28th be happy. I love you!

Pregnancy Cravings

I'm just not going to lie. I think about

apple fritters

and lion king rolls

all day long. I tell my mind not to think about them but everyday it just happens again. And again. And again.

Blackened Chicken Pizza

We ate this awesome blackened chicken pizza awhile back at Whitney and Spencer's. I attempted to make it last night but it never fails that I have about a million issues when first making a new recipe. I spent 30 minutes in the dang seasoning aisle trying to find blackening seasoning. Poor Whitney has to take my frantic phone calls while I'm stressing about what to buy (remember those peanut butter chips Whit?). I left Safeway, sans the seasoning, just figuring I would use something from home. Then I got home and attempted to start making the dough.... let me remind you this was my first time. Call me stupid... I didn't realize the the dough had to rise. So I scratched the pizza idea last night and made it tonight. Oh the adventures...

Let's just say that I have no idea how to make bread. I'm pretty sure my dough did not rise and I attempted to roll my firm dough ball with a glass cup. As I was trying to stretch it (while tearing it) I said a few bad words under my breath and remembered why I ALWAYS buy my dough from Trader Joes. And why don't I have a rolling pin again?

But whatever. It somehow stretched enough and kind of fit the stone. The crust did not turn out great... but everything else turned out really great. I love this recipe.

Blackened Chicken Pizza (from Whitney)
3 tsp. blackening seasoning (I found mine at Nob Hill... don't even try Safeway)
1 boneless skinless chicken breast
4 TBS butter, divided
4 cloves of garlic minced
1 shallot minced
2 TBS flour
1/4 cup white wine (I used cooking white wine)
3/4 cup milk
2 TBS minced fresh basil
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzerella, divided
1/2 cup spinach leaves
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (I used turkey bacon because I'm obsessed with it)
1 cup grated parmsan cheese
whole wheat pizza crust (do yourself a favor, buy the dough)

Sprinkle 2 teaspoons blackening seasoning evenly over chicken breasts. In a large skillet, melt two Tablespoons butter over med-high heat. Add chicken, and cook for 2-3 min. per side or until chicken is done. Remove from heat, cool. Cut chicken into thin strips; set aside.

In a large skillet, melt remaining 2 Tablespoons butter over med heat. Add garlic and shallot, and cook for 2 min. Stir in flour; cook for 2 min., stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in wine and milk. Cook, whisking constantly; for 4-5 min., or until thickened. Stir in basil and remaining 1 tsp. blackening seasoning. Remove from heat.

Preheat oven to 450*

Spread cream mixture evenly over prepared unbaked crust. Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Top evenly with spinach, chicken strips, bacon remaining 1/2 cup moz. cheese, and parm. cheese. Bake for 15-20 min, or until lightly browned. Cut into wedges and serve.

Lisa and Sushi

When I moved here 7 years ago I met Lisa... there aren't enough adjectives to describe her. She was one of my first friends here and I could go on and on about our adventures these past 7 years. I never thought this day would come... she is moving to LA... weeks before her baby is born. I can't believe she is moving right when we will both be stay at home moms. I want to cry.
So now we go to Senro to eat sushi every other week to chat before she moves in a couple of weeks. I will miss you Lisa!!

Wicked

On Valentine's Day we headed to SF to see Wicked with the Brinton's. Spencer found us this great restaurant near Union Square called E&O Trading Co. It was such a fun little spot and we loved the food. A little Asian, a little Indian.. how can you go wrong?

We loved how you got to choose your own colored chopsticks... which none of us used. Forks = Easy.

Group shot. (Side note on my extra pudginess: I gained 9 pounds from surgery. Yes, I said 9. I think it was all the air they blew inside of me which is STILL causing me shoulder pain).

Wicked was phenomenal. I could see this musical a hundred times and not get sick of it. Thanks Whit and Spencer... we had such a fun time!!

A Few Words To Describe Post-Op

It's BORING!!

I have the day off and I had all these plans. I woke up, still didn't feel right, and canceled all of them. I'm too impatient.... I want someone to wave a magic wand and make me feel all better. Ok, maybe that only happens in fairy tales. Or never.

I watched Kelly and Regis and coveted Kelly's arms.
I thought about doing the dishes. Nah, that would take too long.
I watched Nights In Rodanthe (with Richard Gere) and cried. What a sad movie!!
I thought about cleaning out the dust in my bathroom drawers. Nah, I would have to bend.
I drove to Costco. How sad. I went to Costco on President's Day and tasted samples. The orange chicken was delicious and I discovered Skinny Cows in a 20 pack. Sweet!!

The Little Things

You know when you look back on a week and say to yourself, "Whoa... I can't believe that just happened?" I had one of those...

-Monday I found out I need surgery (who ever said having a baby is easy??)
-Tuesday and Wednesday I spent the day at more Dr.'s appointments prepping me for surgery.
-Thursday I found myself wearing this hot purple gown and getting sliced open.
-Surgery went well and I spent the night in the maternity ward. I heard a woman delivering her baby (that didn't sound pretty) and I saw lots of cute little people all swaddled and warm.
-Friday I checked out. I have been hobbling around since trying not to use any body part that is close to my stomach for fear of pain. I have failed doing this, pain is inevitable.
-Sat. we had tickets to Wicked for Valentines Day with the Brinton's. I informed my Dr. (pre-surgery) that I would only have surgery on the 12th if I could go to Wicked on the 14th. After looking at me like I was crazy he said I could go. Let's just say I looked like an idiot hobbling around SF but I went and it was awesome.
-When you no longer can bend over, get into bed, or do anything you are used to... you always remember the little things you are grateful for. I could now make a list a hundred pages long... but my baby is doing great, he's still a boy,  and my husband is the best. And for that, I'm most grateful.

I Heart My Hubby

I love him. He is seriously the best part of me.
Happy Valentines Day!

#4

Let me add a #4 to my list from my previous post. I consigned my wedding dress awhile back with Cherished Wedding Gowns. I called today to check on it and the number was disconnected. I called about 50 more times thinking I had dialed wrong and no... I did not dial wrong. I searched on the internet and I'm pretty sure they went out of business.

Bottom line... THEY STOLE MY DRESS!!!!!! Oh my gosh, what should I do?

I Felt The Boy

So the other night I was having a mental breakdown which involved lots of crying and irrational statements. Poor Cameron. One of these statements included "... and my baby is dead, I haven't felt him move yet." Like I said, it was an irrational night (admit it... you've had them too). But anyhow... The Boy must have heard my tears because I felt him move yesterday. The Boy is in there doing his thing... what a cool feeling!
