Declan's Hospital Stay

My mom brought the boys to the hospital every day to visit. It was so good to see them and then I was so happy to see them go. Ha! Their noise and energy in that small room was seriously taken to a new level. Cameron also took them to Father and Son's one night and they had an absolute blast. It was perfect for them to go spend some 1:1 time with Cameron . 

The boys loved the baby.... Weston loved holding and feeding him and Holden loved to smother him. I love this picture because it's so perfect of them. Holdie drinking juice, which he's obsessed with, and Weston with his favorite hat on. He loves to push it down so far that it pushes his ears out, no matter how many times we show him how to wear it. I think they'll be great big brothers. 

There is nothing sweeter than a newborn baby in the hospital. Their smells, their grunts, their teeny tiny body wrapped up in a white onesie and hospital blanket. It's for sure my favorite thing. I savored every minute. I'm so excited to have another little boy in our family and Declan is the sweetest thing.

Declan's Birth Day

Three boys born in the same hospital. Three pictures in front of the hospital standing in the same place. I love it except the only pic we got was distorted. What's not distorted though is how huge and swollen I was. Sigh. 

Things got off to a rocky start when the anesthesiologist couldn't get the spinal in. About 20 minutes and a million pokes later he called for someone else to do it. He tried one more time while we were waiting and he got it in the right spot. That's the last I remember. They aren't really sure what happened to me but I blacked out and stopped breathing for at least 5 minutes. They were about to intubate me but I woke up right in time. Someone was rubbing my hand and people were yelling my name asking me questions. I was completely out of it and just remember feeling like it was so hard to breathe. I had no clue what had happened and I had no idea my baby had been born. It was for sure worse for Cameron though because he was in the hall when they called Code Blue. He had no idea what was going on and he just saw people running down the hall into the OR. I guess as soon as I stopped breathing they got a team in there and got the baby out in less than a minute. At this point Cameron saw a saw a lady in jeans and a hospital hat running out of the OR holding Declan. Someone said to Cameron, "Your wife is having a hard time but she's breathing now so you can go with your baby." It all happened so fast. Cameron went down to the see the baby for a second and then they let him in the room with me. We're both so sad we missed Declan's birth but so, so happy everything is ok. I spent a long time in the recovery room and they ran a bunch of tests. They still don't know what happened but it's all good. I'll be forever grateful that nothing worse happened that day. 

My mom brought the boys to the hospital and they were so sweet with Declan. They both seemed genuinely interested in the baby and it is one of my favorite memories. Thank goodness for my mom because Cameron spent a lot of time at the hospital, because of what happened, and she watched the boys like a pro.

I seriously love Declan something fierce. I couldn't be more grateful for my life and my little babe. The power of prayer is so, so real.

We feel so, so blessed to have Declan safely with us. His birth was quite the experience but our favorite saying round here is, "All is well that ends well." And it's ended well and we feel really blessed. Declan's middle name, Brian, is Cameron's middle name and Cameron's dad's middle name. He was named after two amazing men and I can't wait to meet Phillip one day. I love this little guy so much my heart might burst. Welcome to the world Declan! 

Holden: 2 Years

Holden was super excited for his birthday. His birthday morning he was so excited the second we pulled him out of his crib. He came running out to the kitchen as fast as he could. We have lots of blurry and bad action shots to prove it. He loved opening his gifts and the big deal we made about him all day long. 

The boys play "birthday party" all the time so he thrilled with his real candles. That was about the only thing he was thrilled about... Holden really isn't a breakfast person. He took one bite of his nutella and banana crepe and he was back to playing with his digger.

Holden has a really fun and strong personality. One could probably describe him as bossy and very very loud... but I'll just sum that up as "strong." He loves to keep up with his brother and friends and seriously hates to miss out on anything. He loves to scream your name till you answer him... and he gets louder and louder each time he yells for you. He loves to wrestle, sword fight, play with diggers, trucks, and trains, has a major sweet tooth and he even loves sour candy and anything minty. He loves to laugh, loves the color blue and purple {kind of to the point of obsession}, and his favorite foods are hummus with pretzels and olives, and pizza. We love you Holdie! Happy Birthday!!

Holden got a scooter for his birthday and he's been loving it so far. I think he mostly loves that he gets to scoot with Weston on walks now instead of riding in the wagon. Kills me that my kids keep growing up. Stop already!

Holden's 2nd {Farm} Birthday Party

Holden's an animal lover so we went with a farm/petting zoo theme. I'm just seriously relieved I wasn't in the hospital delivering baby boy.... although I seriously knew I couldn't get that lucky but I had my friends on back up just in case!!! Holden likes to be heard {to put it nicely} so he's been shouting "two" and "party" for weeks now. When Cameron pulled up to the park that morning the look on his face was so perfect. We love you Holdie and we hope you had a perfect day. 

The petting zoo ended up being perfect... and it included the nosiest pigs you've ever heard. Chickens, baby goats, bunnies, hens, ducks, and pigs made lots of kiddos pretty happy.

Hold's favorite part of the party was his free access to sugar. The kid has got a sweet tooth and we have no idea where that came from. His rotation went something like Cheetos, donuts, juice, Mexican Coke, caramel apples, then repeat. You only turn two once!
