Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt {2010}

Suzanne, my friend across the street, and I are both familyless {and husbandless a lot of the time}. We have lots of time to bond.... so we decided that our kiddos needed an easter egg hunt.

We invited over a bunch of neighbors and the kids and moms had such a fun time.

Check out Weston's new cheese face... this kid is up to no good.

Staying in one spot lasts about .01 seconds {on a good day}.
The eggs were hid...

and the kids waited in pure anticipation. Weston was not about to miss out on a thing.

After all the eggs were found we dined on fruit on fruit popsicles, fish sticks, and bunny pb&j's.... a kids dream come true.

Suzanne stuffed Evan in this bunny suit... I about rolled watching her do it. I was having 'Christmas Story' flashbacks. Hilarious.

Go Sharks!

Saturday night we went to the Sharks game with some of Cameron's employees from the Northern Region. We sat in a decked out suite and had such a fun time. I think I had extra fun because I was so excited to get out of the house for a night. Our babysitter put Weston to bed so it this was big time for us... and it went great. Phew!

Me and Heather.... love her.

Peeps In Banner Form

Every year I find myself writing about peeps... it's a sickness. This year, since I'm on my post-baby diet {when can I stop claiming that?}, I decided I wasn't even going to buy a box. Instead, I'd craft my annual peep addiction.

My peeps banner made its first appearance at the easter egg hunt my neighbor and I hosted on Friday. Why I stayed up till 2 am sewing a banner for 1-5 year olds I'll never know.

After the hunt, ironically enough, my friend brought me over a 3 pack of peeps to say, "Thanks." And now I'm thanking her for the extra 30 minutes of cardio I had to do for downing 15 peeps in one day.

{Made from scratch peeps here. I'm sooo making these next year}

The Taste Test

Part of being a Neidig is being a diet coke addict. If you marry into the fam you must be willing to join the addiction.... and take part in taste tests. It's true, we had our first taste test while I was visiting. And since I did so poorly on this test I hope this becomes a yearly tradition so I can work on improving my score.

This is how it went down... pepsi vs. coke, pepsi 1 vs. coke zero, caffeine free diet pepsi vs. caffeine free diet coke, and diet pepsi vs. diet coke.

All served in little cups labeled 1 and 2 (Served by Brent and Ange who are apparently going through a no-soda phase. It will pass}.

Many techniques were involved...

Some smelled,

some swirled,

and others just drank.

And can a addict recognize the real stuff? No... you can not. {I'm still disappointed in my score of 1/4}.

Unless you are Em and Al who both scored 4/4. What the heck.

Trip To Utah

Way back when {in February} Weston and I went to Utah to see my fam. Origionally I was going to help my mom out with her recovery from her hip replacement surgery... but apparently she is super woman and recovered all on her own in record time. The doctor said she should be the poster child for how to recover from hip replacement surgery. Go mom!

Anyhow, Weston and I had a good time just hanging out and seeing everyone. I broke out the camera the last day when Weston hadn't slept for about 5 nights and was getting sick. Seems to be a trend when I go on vacation.... sweet.

The 2 boys in their darling matching Valentine outfits. We miss you Luke!

Cameron made husband of the year by sending me valentine day flowers. I wish I could have gate checked them along with my stroller.

Weston with his great-grandpa, Leon Aiken.

And perfect timing to be there for my mom's birthday. I literaly can't remember the last time I was around family for a real birthday, thiers or mine. It was really fun. Why is the cake so flat you ask? A certain sister left out the baking soda... but we love her anyway.

We did my mom a favor and put on the "mom" candle instead of set of smoke alarm with a ba-jillion little candles. Love you mom!!

Bang-Bang-Bang

Weston has LOVED his music class. He recognizes the songs now, loves the kids in his class, and he loves the drums. Cameron's heart goes pitter patter when he sees Weston bang all over the drums because he is going to live out his music fantasy through his child. Apparently Weston is going to be the drummer and Cameron will be the lead guitarist in their future band. This all sounds very loud....

The One Handed Stand And Bend

Weston is perfecting the one handed stand and bend. He is so excited for himself and he will do it over, and over, and over again. The look of concentration on his face is priceless!! I caught him standing the other day. Just standing with NO HANDS. It all goes too fast...

Dining Table & Chairs: Before And After

You know the projects you start and then you DREAD working on them because it is such a pain?? Meet my dining room chair nightmare. Not that it was really that hard... it was just super time consuming and took up every nap time for weeks! And then after it was done I spent another couple of nap times cleaning up all the spray paint in my garage. That was a real treat, let me tell you.

The #1 lesson learned in this project: sand the original wood. But... I love the end results so I'd do it again.

Dining table and chairs before:

And then I scoured Craigslist and ended up with this arrangement:

Dining table and chairs after I had my way with them:

One of the chairs didn't fit at the table {because of the high chair} so it's just hangin' out by the wall.
{Krylon Oxford Blue Spray Paint... and lots of it}
