The Greatest Show On Earth

We were given some tickets to the circus so we thought, "Why not?" Let's just say we all enjoyed the first act with the animals, trains, and music.

Weston enjoyed the second act of the jumping men while eating a snack.

Third act was spent on the floor since the snack was gone, obviously not happy about being trapped in.

Fourth act was spent here as we gradually got closer to the door.

Free, free at last!!!

It was definitely the best 20 minutes on earth. Thanks Carolyn for the tickets!

End Of Summer Party

My neighbor hosted a fun end of summer party today at her mom's house in the vineyards. The weather was gorgeous, the view was incredible, and the kids had a blast. Every day is summer to me but I remember those last few days before heading back to teaching each year. I might have dreaded them?

while Weston focused on following the big boys around and trying to start the bbq about 5000 times. That is so my life.

New Kids On The Block

Apparently there was an unwritten rule that you had to have young kids to move into our neighborhood... we could start our own school. Everyone has moved in onto our lane and the kids are in heaven with so many friends.

I call it a small miracle when Weston will give up the remote, keys, phone, and tupperware to play with things we call "toys."

And then it was over when the fruit bar appeared.

Fairytale Town

A couple of weekends ago we had to go to Sacramento to pick up Cameron's car. We stopped at Fairytale Town for a little detour to let Weston run around. That place is hilarious... basically it's a glorified park with a bunch of old fairytale statues. Do kids still learn about "The Old Lady Who lived in a Shoe"? Anyhow... we had fun. But the real bonus was hitting up Costa Vida on our way out of town. How excited we were to get a little Cafe Rio knock off in our systems??

Summer Wreath

Now that it is almost time for fall I finally made my summer wreath. So typical.

Helping Out

One year olds are oh so helpful. Like today he shattered my blender. Awesome.

He loves to imitate whatever we are doing. Cameron mostly likes it when he imitates him mowing the lawn and not so much when he imitates me putting on my makeup.

Sara and Jake

Sara and I met at church after we both moved out to Cali. We sort of knew each other and then somehow ended up as roommates in a cute little house. The stars aligned because we've been friends ever since. I think "The Zone Diet" bonded us together {remember that Sara??} I still remember eating a huge plate of cooked cabbage seasoned with celery seed for dinner. Sick.

Sara and Jake made the trek from Roosevelt to come and visit and boy did we have fun. We started out at the children's museum where the boys learned how to:

surf,

drive a tractor,

and drench every kid in the room at the water spout.

I learned that new walkers shouldn't walk around alone on a water soaked room. This pic is post head injury after he skidded across the wet floor on his face. Lesson learned.

Later that night we got the Walnut Creek girls together for dinner at Natalie's so our boys could meet and make plans for how they are going to keep in touch.

The next day we headed into the city to hang out with Melissa. We had better intentions of staying longer but we were too cold. How do I always forget that summer = winter in the city.

The boys loved these steps... climbing and running around while the tired mommies chased and corralled children from falling into the bay.

The next day we found ourselves at farmer's market where Jake got very wet

and Weston got very dirty. Boys. They are messy and mischievous from the beginning.

Tubes

Weston had his first surgery last Friday... tubes. That might be the quickest surgery ever. Weston did awesome and he's definitely tugging at his ears less. We think he might be hearing a bit better because he'll follow a few simple commands now{i.e. "Get the book etc."} and he's added "no, no, no" to his repertoire on Friday. Coincidence... who knows??

Walking

The house has not sold which is not really a big surprise. On the bright side...I have had the best summer visiting friends and family and friends visiting me. It has been so, so fun. Sara, my bestie from the past, came out a week ago. We barely slept and neither did our boys. We all might still be recovering?

Weston started walking the week of his 1st birthday. Slow, wobbly, little steps. And then Jake came to stay {Sara's baby boy} and suddenly Weston had a live-in bestie that he had to keep up with. After a few major injuries that week :) he is toddling all around and loving every minute of his walking freedom.
